On Sunday, we heard Christ use parables of both a growing seed and a mustard seed to explain the Kingdom of God. Rev. Dr. Elizabeth said that in the first parable the man who scattered the seed does “not know how” it sprouts and grows. Here we are shown that God is always working and that we must be patient and watch. It’s easy to overlook the fact that God is always growing good things, including children.
As for the parable of smallest mustard seed, it eventually produces a bush that is more like a tree. Small things we do can have a big positive effect. “Everything has a beginning,” she said. “We have good work to do – God is growing his government in this world – our role is to sow the seeds.”
