Tolling Bells to Honour the 215 Children, Kamloops IRS and Others

National Indigenous People’s Day, June 21, 2021

Some of the members of All Saints King City gathered to ring our bell on June 21st, National Indigenous People’s Day, to honour the 215 children whose remains were recently located on the grounds of an Indian Residential School in Kamloops, BC.  In tolling our bell together in spirit recognizing and honouring the memory of these children, their families and others who were lost to the Indian Residential School system. The team rang the bell 215 times commencing at 6;30pm.  The Truth and Reconciliation Committee have told us that other burial sites wait to be found at other Indian Residential School locations. We recognize that the location of these children’s remains has been challenging for many and encourage people to seek support (National Indian Residential School Crisis Line 1 866-925-4419) as needed.
