A Joyful, inspiring Easter Sunday at All Saints!
From the soaring Alleluias of that great Easter hymn “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”, to youth and children responding enthusiastically Rev. Elizabeth’s talk about the transformation story of Easter symbolized by the eggs and seeds, to the wonderful Easter message we heard from Rev. Elizabeth about rebirth and transformation, last Sunday was one of joy and celebration for a full house at All Saints.
The Gospel from John, told by Rev. Elizabeth, is the amazing story of the empty tomb and the risen Christ’s appearance to Mary Magdalene. “I have seen the Lord” she tells the disciples, and is reborn. In her sermon, Rev. Elizabeth said it was notable that Jesus chose to reveal his risen self to a woman first. She said this was a day to ask if Christ was living in us and was alive in our lives. “Are our old selves crucified?” she asked. “In that sense aren’t we all born again?”. “Let Christ live in all our lives,” she concluded; “Let’s make Easter a significant event in our daily lives. Christ is risen!”
At All Saints we intend to keep the spirit of the risen Christ alive in our hearts, in our worship and through our community actions. We invite all to join us. As Rev. Elizabeth repeats: “Come as you are!”
