Canada Day – Recognizing the Original Inhabitants of King City

For over twenty thousand years aboriginal peoples hunted and tended crops on the land where King City and All Saints are today. We feel it is important that recognize this truth, with respect and gratitude to the First Nations of Canada.

A remarkable map (https://Native-Land.ca) showing all tribes and their locations was introduced to me by our indigenous advocate Dave Gordon. Here are the various First Nations, the original inhabitants, who once lived in our area:  Anishinabewaki, Huron-Wendat  and Haudenosaunee.

In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation between the Anglican Church of Canada and First Nations people, we honour them with gratitude and appreciation.
